What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections — also called B-tox or toxin injections — use tiny, precise amounts of botulinum toxin to temporarily relax the specific muscles that cause lines and wrinkles when you move your face.

With those muscles less active, expression lines soften and the skin looks smoother and more rested. Used carefully, the aim is never a frozen or “done” look: you should still look like you, just fresher.

Benefits
  • Softens expression lines
  • Helps prevent dynamic wrinkles from deepening
  • Can create a more rested appearance
  • Can subtly refine facial proportions
  • Can reduce excessive muscle activity

Your appointment

What to expect

  1. 01

    Consultation

We talk through what bothers you, your medical history and any medication, and agree a plan. If anti-wrinkle injections aren’t the right fit, we’ll say so.

  2. 02

    Treatment

Your doctor uses a very fine needle to place small amounts into the specific muscles agreed in your plan. Most people describe it as a quick pinch.

  3. 03

    Results

Results build up gradually over the following days, with the full effect at around two weeks.

  4. 04

We usually check your results about two weeks after treatment, and make small adjustments if needed.

FAQs

Anti-wrinkle injections: your questions

How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?

The effect wears off gradually over a few months, and most people repeat treatment to maintain their results. How long it lasts varies from person to person — your doctor will advise on timing for you.

Will I look frozen?

That’s not the aim. We use precise amounts in specific muscles to soften lines while keeping natural movement, so you look rested rather than “done”.

Does it hurt?

A very fine needle is used and most people describe it as a quick pinch. Your doctor will talk you through it before starting.

When will I see results?

Results build up gradually over the first two weeks. We usually check them about two weeks after treatment.

Can I exercise after treatment?

Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and excessive heat for 24 hours, stay upright for several hours, and don’t rub or massage the treated areas.

Do men have anti-wrinkle injections?

Yes. Many men have anti-wrinkle injections, most often for forehead and frown lines. Your treatment is planned around your face and the look you want.
